So... weights [15 Jul 2009|01:28am]

kyonomiko
I'm still keeping with my weight program. I have a feeling that I may not be progressing as much as I could due to lack of partner, though. I don't have someone to push me when I think I can't lift anymore, so while I am still adding weight, it's very slow.

I've noticed much more progression on my military press now that I have the machine to help with pull-ups, though. I'm slowly developing the upper body strength I should have been working on months ago.

Deadlift: 138 (Ran out of weights. On bad days, 138 still makes me feel like puking, but I think I could put another 10 lbs on)
Military Press: 40.. ish.. wimpy wimpy wimpy!
Bent-over row: 60 ish
Pull ups: Still can't do full body weight yet. Up to around 80ish I think? I get confused with the kilo markings sometimes and I'd have to go look at the machine
Bench Press: About the same as the pull up. I'm using the same ammount of weights on both
Squats: Unknown. I'm pulling 50 on my own, but I know i could do more if I had someone to help load me down. I don't have a squat rack. I'm just doing what I can, though.

Those numbers have gone up from when I first started, especially the deadlift. I'm not sure they're progressing as quickly as they should, but then again, I'm also not a guy, nor taking steroids.

Today was another bad food day, but I at least made it past lunch before everything went to hell, and that's progress. I need to get back into losing instead of maintaining with poor diet. I may think about adding in 2-3 days of 20 min cardio on the bike, but it's really hard for me to get motivated. I'm trying not to rest on my laurels and keep pushing, but all it took was a week of poor diet to throw me off, and I've been struggling to get it back on track for like a month now. It's frustrating, because I know if I don't get it back where it needs to be soon, I'm going to be gaining back. blaaaahhh.

Anyway, you guys were long overdue for some diet/exercise whining :P

OMFG [12 Jul 2009|07:47pm]

Can I make an Amano-style FF4 costume in a month and a half? >:O WUT
I need to take fabric inventory and figure out WTF garments I plan to make... just in case

...And I wonder if we can find a tiny freind to wear this Edward costume I've been hanging onto. I bought it second-hand from an amazing costumer a few years back. It was for my little brother, but it didn't fit him like I thought it would. I was about 2 inches off on the measurements and having an Edward would be awesome >..>

Today is a thing of joy and beauty. Not only do we get the new old awards clip (yeah, we've all seen it, but here's a link for posterity), but today [info]smidgy06 posted some adorable new old SPN cast pics (here) AND we get the season 5 casting spoiler...

cut for said spoiler and such )

(Casting spoilers are the ONLY Superantural spoilers I'll read. I'm sure the con will kind of obliterate it for me, but as of right now I'm unspoiled for anything else, so please don't tell me anything beyond casting.)

I'm feeling kind of retro [12 Jul 2009|03:17pm]

kyonomiko
I think I'm going to install Baldur's gate or Neverwinter Nights or somthing. I never beat any of those. I beat Dungeon siege back in the day, but I remember it was super buggy, and you could exploit to the end. lawl.

I want to try and beat Arcanum, but who knows where my save file is D:

I love those kinds of D&D based PC games, but I have a really bad habit. I make whatever class I'm playing really proficient at stealing things, then I just wander around and steal people's stuff and never progress the plot.

It's a miracle I even beat Icewindale!

Carnivale [11 Jul 2009|07:00pm]

kyonomiko
So hey, in the tradition of always being a few years late on cable series, I started watching Carnivale today. I'd had it on netflix for a long time, and the first disk itself has been sitting in the house for at least a month. It had the first two episodes on it, and after watching it, I can say I'm hooked. I decided it wasn't worth it to have to wait on disks for the rest of the series. I could tell right off the bat that this was somthing I'd absolutely love.

So, since I had to get some grocery shopping done today, I hit up Hastings and bought the whole first series for like 26 bucks.

I can also tell right off the bat that a few of you guys would really love this, and a bunch of you would probably hate it. (Zoi, you will love this... I think. Mom, you will think it is weird. Tania, you will hate it, unless you decide you like it just to spite me)

Soooo.. I'm going to have a marathon and try to finish this first season tonight. If I decide I like it enough, I'll go out tomorrow and pick up the second season or somthing.

Dexter is on Showtime, but it's another one of those cable series I ended up really loving. I actually got hooked on Dexter halfway through the first season, though. (Watched it from ep. 1 on Daily Motion, where I ended up watching french subs of the first season of Heroes because they uploaded fast XD. This was before NBC started putting eps up on thier site)

We tried Deadwood, but neither of us really liked it that much. I don't like Westerns, or gratuitous swearing that does nothing for the dialogue or plot. He just didn't like it that much. I guess there's only so much of the word "cunt" and "cocksucker" you can stand when it's getting in the way of the plot.

It was damned good to see Jeffery Jones in somthing again, though. He's incredibly talented, and the whole child porn drama made me really sad. It seriously ruined his career. I don't know the whole story, but he supposedly took photos of a bunch of different people for some sort of artsy thing, and one was underage. Someone got offended, called them porn, and then there were all sorts of accusations thrown around. From what IMDB tells me, the charges were later dropped, but the damage was done. I don't think the general public will ever really know the whole truth behind it all, but it just makes me sad, whatever the truth may be.

He was so awesome in Amadeus and Beetle Juice.. oh! and Ed Wood :X (Most people just know him as the princible in Ferris Bueller's Day Off) He's just a fantastic actor overall, but I couldn't sit through Deadwood just watch him work.

Haven't watched Six Feet Under or Rome yet.. but I hear people geek about Rome all the time. If it's too SRS BSNS, though, I don't think I'll be able to sit through the political drama/intrigue. Have I mentioned that I hate mech anime series enough yet? :P

RIP Geocities [10 Jul 2009|07:36pm]

Oh man.. I used to have the worst website ever with many flashing animated gifs!

"We're writing to let you know that Yahoo! GeoCities, our free web site building service and community, is closing on October 26, 2009.

On October 26, 2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and files. "

Frankly, I'm surprised it's lasted that long. They'll be purging the database of millions of crappy fansites that haven't been updated in 10 years! Wow!

I need to check a calendar or somthing [09 Jul 2009|09:02pm]

kyonomiko
Next time my birthday lands on a Sat, I'm having a party or somthing. Being alone and bored totally blows. I'm also hungry for dinner >:O I refuse to eat ramen noodles, even though that'll be the easiest thing to make. I'd rather have like McDonalds or some crap! Too bad I don't have a car right now. Matt's at work, so I can't go order all of a fast food restaurant and pig out.

I don't know if I'm going to land on a Sat. again anytime soon, though. Mine usually lands on a Sat or Weds, but it's a Thurs this year. Maybe leap year has bit me in the ass and it'll be on weird days like Thurs for a few years. Bummer!

Stars so bright on this Minnesota night [08 Jul 2009|11:15pm]

I am maybe leaving for Minnesota tomorrow (maybe Friday, who really knows). In the interest of saving money, we are driving. It is an 18-19 hour drive. Oh My God.

I may/may not have anything to post while I'm out there. Maybe keep an eye on my Twitter, if you're so inclined.

When I called Mom tonight, she told me my grandmother went to the hospital for chest pains (she's been having them since yesterday afternoon). They're going to do some tests and keep her there overnight. This is maybe the worst timing ever, since I'm set to leave soon and now will have to be worried the whole way there.

I'm so afraid I'm going to forget something. I've already forgotten to buy pantyhose. Er, thigh-high stockings (HATE YOU, waistbands). Do I really need them in July? Even if it's an evening wedding? The dress is strapless. Not that that matters. I don't know my fashion/etiquette on this one. I'd be more willing to forgo if I weren't so damn pale.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor [08 Jul 2009|04:05pm]

I totally beat it :X

My compendium is filled out pretty nicely, but I need to play through all the endings to unlock all of them. I finished it on the Naoya route because I loves me some Nocturne, and I couldn't resist the king of demons ending.

I found a mini walkthrough on what you need to do to make sure all endings are opened up by the time you have to choose. If I can do that, I can decide which path to take later, instead of only having 1 or 2 to choose from because I messed somthing up. I'm not entirely sure I'll end up playing through more than one more time, though. It seems the compendium here is really limited compared to other SMT games, and I don't think I'm missing many demons at all.

The route walkthrough was made by Kouli, who writes a ton of faqs on gamefaqs for these types of games. I think he/she is Japanese, and plays through all the games as they are released, then writes english walkthroughs for the people who import but don't know WTF it says. Atlus has really been on the ball with the SMT releases, though, so there really isn't any need to import anymore, IMO. That is, unless you wanted to team up with Kuzunoha Raidou in the SMT:Nocturne game they re-released with Raidou vs. King Abaddon. HAHA

Anyway, the link for the awesome ending walkthrough is here. No spoilers, just tells you what choices to take so that all ending routes are available when you have to choose at the end
Linky Linky

Earlier I said that the game felt like a really dumbed down version of other SMT games. I think the reason for that is because the all the fusion compendium info and monster info are displayed. You don't have to memorize monster weaknesses or keep a strat guide around to figure out how to fuse certain mobs. Really, though, it expidites things quite a bit. I think that is important with a strategy game, so I can't grump too much about no longer being inconvenienced with having to memorize crap. I mean, hell, it doesn't have to be that oldschool to be a good game.

I've enjoyed it. I need to go play the Kuzunoha Raidou game that came out, though. I pre-ordered it for the Raiho plush, but fell asleep during the opening tutorial. I know how to play already, dammnit! I have two new DS games and two new PS2 games too, though. When we went up to Plano for the 4th of July, we went to a Movie Trading Company and a Fry's... and...
I spent lots D:

So maybe I should hold off on a second playthrough of this and finish somthing else. I do have that Tales of the Abyss file I was working on.. and I can plug my wavebird into the wii and finish Tales of Symphonia... I mean... I have Tales of Symphonia 2 on the Wii and I really should finish the gamecube one before I start the sequel D:
